Metamodern art creates a sense of dynamic flux and invites others to join in creating a more inclusive, compassionate, and hopeful world, using techniques such as mimesis, pastiche, homage, parody, and satire to comment on and critique contemporary culture and society. It values the power of novelty, embraces new technologies and digital media while maintaining a connection to traditional art forms, and creates a multidimensional and multifaceted experience that strives to evoke empathy, understanding, and connection, serving as a catalyst for social and cultural change. The Metamodern art manifesto advocates for a balance between tradition and innovation, rejecting the cynicism of postmodernism and embracing hope, optimism, and sincerity.
I. Metamodern art rejects the binary opposition of modernism and postmodernism, instead combining elements of both to create something new and unique. It strives for a balance between tradition and innovation, irony and sincerity, pushing the boundaries of what is possible in art.
II. Characterized by a dynamic tension between different elements, Metamodern art seeks to create a new synthesis. It embraces diverse mediums to challenge ideas of authenticity and originality, push boundaries, question the status quo, and create a dialogue about the impact of technology and digital media on our understanding of reality and our place in the world.
III. Emotionally resonant art that inspires and transforms the viewer is a hallmark of Metamodern art, evoking empathy, understanding, and connection. It utilizes different forms such as painting, sculpture, digital media, performance, instaliation and film to create a multidimensional and multifaceted experience.
